Isabella Gregor
geboren in Wien, ist freischaffende Theater-Regisseurin in den Sparten Oper und Operette sowie Musical und Schauspiel. Sie arbeitete an Bühnen in Österreich, Deutschland, Schweiz, Italien, Kalifornien und Singapur.
Zunächst absolvierte sie ihr Schauspielstudium bei Susi Nicoletti (Max Reinhardt Seminar Wien), Lola Braxton und Susan Batson (New York) und spielte an diversen Staats-und Stadttheatern große Rollen unter namhaften Regisseuren, wechselte jedoch bald selbst zur Regie. Ihr Ausbildungs-Wechsel zur Musiktheater-Regie führte sie an das Opernhaus Zürich als Regieassistentin bei David Pountney und Peter Mussbach – mit Franz Welser-Möst und Christoph von Dohnanyi.
Seit 2009 inszeniert sie fast ausschließlich Oper, Operette und Musical. An der operklosterneuburg waren „Cavalleria Rusticana“ (Pietro Mascagni) und „Pagliacci“ (Ruggero Leoncavallo) und eine viel beachtete „Zauberflöte“ (W.A. Mozart) zu sehen.
„La Traviata“ (Giuseppe Verdi) inszenierte sie an der Bühne Baden, die Uraufführung des spartenübergreifenden Kammer-Singspiels „Calculus“ (Werner Schulze) im Studio des Opernhauses Zürich und am Gärtnerplatztheater München den szenischen Crossover-Konzertabend „Tiefe Gefühle“.

Die Uraufführung „Mata Hari“ (Marc Schubring) am Gärtnerplatztheater München; „Die Fledermaus“ (Johann Strauss) am Theater Hof; am Theater Rostock die mit dem Publikumspreis als beste Aufführung der Saison 2019 ausgezeichnete „Eine Nacht in Venedig“ (Johann Strauss); „Der Zarewitsch“ (Franz Lehár), „Der Vogelhändler“ (Carl Zeller) und „My Fair Lady“ (Frederick Loewe) beim Lehár Festival Bad Ischl; „Funny Girl“ (Jule Styne), „Im weißen Rössel“ (Ralph Benatzky), „Der Bettelstudent“ (Carl Millöcker) und „Paganini“ (Franz Lehár) an der Bühne Baden; „Boccaccio“ (Franz von Suppé), „Orpheus in der Unterwelt“ (Jacques Offenbach), „Im weißen Rössl“ (Ralph Benatzky) „Das Feuerwerk“ (Paul Burkhard), „Die Rose von Stambul“ und „Der fidele Bauer“ (Leo Fall), sowie „Die Lustige Witwe“ (Franz Lehár) bei den Operetten-Herbsttagen Blindenmarkt;; am MUK.theater Wien die Einakter „Daphnis und Chloe“ und „Bagatelle“ (Jacques Offenbach), bei den Tiroler Festspielen Erl „Heute Abend Lola Blau“ (Georg Kreisler) mit Gastspiel-Einladungen an das Opernhaus Graz, Volkstheater Wien, Klangfrühling Stadtschlaining, zum Korneuburger Musiksommer und an das Theater Trier.
Ihre Regie-Arbeiten im Schauspiel erarbeitete sie u.a. am Theater in der Josefstadt, am Tiroler Landestheater, Theater St. Gallen, Team Theater München, Mainfrankentheater Würzburg, Phoenix Theater Linz, Jugendstiltheater Wien, SRT Singapore, JM San Francisco.
Sie erarbeitete Stückfassungen und inszenierte Klassiker, Komödien und Uraufführungen.
Zuletzt zu sehen: „Betrogen“ von Harold Pinter.
Drei Jahre lang leitete sie die Schauspielabteilung der Gmundener Festwochen, war Initiatorin des Arthur-Schnitzler-Festivals, Intendantin des Ferdinand Raimund Festivals, sowie ein Trimester dramatische Gastlehrerin an der Stanford University Kalifornien.
Zu Beginn ihrer Theaterlaufbahn stand sie selbst sehr erfolgreich als Schauspielerin auf Bühnen wie dem Burgtheater Wien, den Salzburger Festspielen und Wiener Festwochen, dem Schauspiel Frankfurt, Schauspiel Stuttgart, Nationaltheater Weimar, Theater in der Josefstadt, der Volksbühne Berlin und arbeitete u.a. mit den Regisseuren Martin Kusej, Christoph Loy, David Mouchtar-Samorai, Peter Stein, Hans Hollmann, Hans Lietzau, Günther Beelitz und Dietmar Pflegerl.

Isabella Gregor
She was born and educated in Vienna, studied ballet and piano from the age of seven, and later languages and economics before going on to study acting at the Reinhardt-Seminar – with Susi Nicoletti and singing at the University for Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. Additional training included workshops with American acting teachers Lola Braxton, Sherry Franklin, Suzan Batson, John Costopoulos and George Tabori.
Her work as a director began in the mid 90s. She was trained as a director at the Opera House in Zurich by David Pountney and Peter Mussbach. She was assistant to the directors for Wozzeck/A.Berg and Simplicius/J.Strauss and then was switching to directing operas, operettas and musicals. She was the artistic director for the Summer Festival in Gmunden, Austria where she directed plays of Arthur Schnitzler, and was the artistic director for the Ferdinand Raimund Summer Festival.

the German theatrical premiere of „An Immaculate Misconception“ by Carl Djerassi at the Jugendstil Theatre in Vienna and for the SRT Singapore (in English), the first German theatrical premiere of „Oxygen“ by R. Hoffmann and C. Djerassi at the Mainfranken Theatre Würzburg, which was nominated for the theatre award of South Germany. She also directed “Betrayal” by Harold Pinter in Vienna, „IT“ by Karl Schönherr at the Landestheatre Innsbruck, „Kopenhagen“ by Michael Frayn in Munich, the world premiere of „Kanari“ by Klaus Pohl in Vienna, which was broadcast on TV Austria, Germany and Switzerland. „Lulu“ by Frank Wedekind, „Torquato Tasso“ by J.W. von Goethe in St. Gallen, Switzerland; „Monsieur Chasse“ by George Feydeau in Vienna, „Junk Space“ by the Austrian writer Kathrin Röggla, the German theatrical premiere of „Ego“ by Carl Djerassi in the adapted version by Susanna Goldberg and herself; „The Squanderer“ by Ferdinand Raimund at the Raimund Festival, the world premiere of „miscalculated!“ by Carl Djerassi and herself.
She was invited to perform various guest performances in Halle an der Saale, Leverkusen, Cologne, Munich and in various locations in Berlin such as the Ruins of the Charite and Urania, at the Festival of Bad Hersfeld, Germany, the Hofburg Vienna, Museum of Applied Arts, Museum Albertina, Art-History Museum, Schönberg Center Vienna. She has done „Calculus“ by Carl Djerassi several times as very successful staged-rehearsed readings in Vienna, the Leibniz-Hall of the Academie of Sciences in Berlin and the Semperopera in Dresden. „Four Jews on Parnassus“ by Carl Djerassi in her adapted versions she did at the Jewish Museum San Francisco, at Stanford University and at the ACF London.
Her first engagements as an actress were in various theatres in Austria, Germany and Switzerland including: Burgtheatre Vienna, Salzburg Festival, Theatre Graz, Klagenfurt, Volksbuehne Berlin, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Residenztheatre Munich, Staatsschauspiel Stuttgart, Nationaltheatre Weimar, Neumarkt Theatre Zurich. She also has worked in tv films and soaps.
